About
Northern Lights Martial Arts is a training crew and competition team, not a specific school or lineage scion. Northern Lights was founded as a group of martial artists of like mind who value the self-development that martial arts brings as a way of life. Northern Lights is not specific to one field of martial arts, though the strongest influences come from Chinese Kung Fu. The three major influences in the Northern Lights training program are Northern Shaolin, with specialization in Eagle Claw, Kukkiwon style Taekwondo, and Jow Ga, a southern family of Kung Fu.
Northern Lights training is largely traditional, objective, and dynamic. The purpose of Northern Lights Martial Arts is to provide an ongoing, comprehensive mind-body-spirit experience designed to develop both the individual and the team. Training focuses on developing all-around well being, attitude, awareness, energy, team work, and self-knowledge for a healthier life path. This self-development pays dividends throughout all aspects of life, from attitude to decision making, from confidence to personal health. For Northern Lights team members, the “art” in martial arts is just as important as the “martial.”
